Jose Francisco Araujo do Nascimento is the son of Vanderlina Rodrigues de Araujo and Jose Francisco Costa do Nascimento and lives in Rodrigues Alves. He is a child that is being assisted by the project "Christ Child of Nazareth". The mother explained that she did not have any problems during the pregnancy, the delivery was normal when Jose was born without any problems at 3 pm, in the General Hospital in Cruzeiro do Sul. Apparently, Jose was a normal and healthy child but something alarming called her attention. After four days the child has yellowed eyes. At seven days he began to have epileptic convulsions and cried loudly as if he was feeling very strong pain. At nine days, the mother took the child to the hospital in Cruzeiro do Sul to be admitted. During his stay there, the child passed four days without eating. Little by little, with more or less 13 days, the Dr Andrea Velozo perceived that the child had difficulty in moving. Several exams and tests were made and it was diagnosed that Jose has cerebral palsy and mental deficiency.
Now, Jose is a year and 8 months old and does not say a word that people can understand. He neither sits alone nor crawls. He remained lying down. He does not eat normally, drinking only milk. If he eats any other food, he vomits. The mother thinks that they child has some throat problem because when he eats he keeps swallowing and does not have the strength to chew the food.
In the midst of this work I have perceived that Jose is a child who tries very hard and understands a little of what people say to him because he shows this by smiling. I have not obtained much result because the family is always going to their farm where they are able to make their living. When he is at home he is always sick with a cold or fever. The work that I have done is of great help. I feel good and happy in being able to help these children who in a certain way are an image of society. No one looks after them because of the life conditions of their families. We know that the social projects do not reach everyone. That is, they benefit the few who have the means to maintain themselves.
