José Francisco da Costa is a child who is being assisted by Project Child Jesus of Nazareth. Jose Francisco is an adopted son of Mrs.Socorro. According to Mrs. Socorro, Jose's biological mother did not have problems during pregnancy and had a normal delivery. Jose was born at 11:30 pm. At 7 am the next morning, Mrs. Socorro took him to live with her.
From appearance, Jose is a normal and healthy child, but something worried and called attention from those around him. While eating, Jose vomited everything and turned "purple". This situation occurred every time he was eating. He was taken to Goiania and the doctors detected heart problems. It was necessary to have surgery. Today upon eating he no longer vomits but is very tired. He is not able to do many activities, to walk rapidly, nor play normally because he tires easily. He must sit down quickly because he lacks resistance and as a consequence the body becomes purple. As a result of the sickness and being 5 years old, Jose does not study. His mother is afraid to send him to school and have greater problems happen.
The biological family of Jose consists of 5 brothers. All are without health problems. In the family, according to our knowledge, only his uncle had problems of tiredness, but in time he became well. Mrs. Socorro, the adoptive mother, had 8 children of which one died at birth. His biological father is a day laborer and the mother works at home. We soon perceived that the financial situation is not stable. The personal relationship among them is pleasant and open to sharing in order to live well together. They own their own house but the location of the house is not good because it is very far from the center of town which makes it difficult if they need quick assistance.
In the midst of this work I have perceived that Jose is an alert and energetic boy but he is not creative and does not retain what he hears. He has difficulty in memorizing what he hears. He only repeats "all" that is said. What is interesting is the good will that he manifests in doing the assigned exercises.
Concerning the work that I have realized, it is of great benefit. I am very happy in being able to help these children who in a certain way are at the margin of society. No one looks after them because of the life conditions of their families. We know that the social projects do not reach everyone. That is, they benefit the few who have the means to maintain themselves.
The Project Child Jesus of Nazareth began at a good time in order to find and help these families who, because of a lack of recourses and a certain ignorance, believe that what happen to their children is the will of God. We are the instruments in helping the most needy. I am very happy and feel useful in the midst of this project.
