Francisco Filho Moraes Silva, born September 16, 2003 is today one year and 3 months old. I have assisted her for three months. Before entering the project he weighted 4 kilograms, now he weighs 5 kilograms and is developing well. He is the son of Maria Texeira de Moraes and de Francisco das Chagas da Silva.
Until he was three months of age, he was a strong and healthy child, nothing was wrong. At four months he began coughing and became very tired. His mother took him to the doctor and it was confirmed that he had pneumonia. He remained hospitalized for 12 days and was operated to remove the infection and one rib. He became deformed. He still suffers from this same problem. If he gets a cold he already tires and begins coughing. The financial conditions are limited and there is no help from the government.
When he become ill, thanks to the Project, the medical assistance and medicines are not lacking. His food is pureed food to which has been added a multi-mixture of herbal vitamins provided by the Children's Apostolate each month. He also receives a food sack from the Military Base (BIS). His father is a day laborer and does not always have work. He helps little in the house expenses as he also spends much of it for alcohol. The mother is not very concerned with the child. There is a great lack of hygiene for the child and the house. It is a very small house in the same yard with 4 other houses.
Francisco does not sit, crawl nor walk. He only stays in the hammock or on the lap. But with the help of PROJECT CHILD JESUS all this could change because we are helping in the best possible way. At the same time, we are encouraging the mother to take care of the hygiene of the house as well as that of the child. If God wishes, he will get well and have a better quality of life.
I am very satisfied in being able to work with children so challenged. When I arrive in the houses I take and receive much happiness, the smile on the face of each child and of the mothers of the children who receive me very well. I hope that this project lasts for a long time because all of the challenged children need our help, especially Francisco.
